Holiday, What Holiday

Monmouth MP David T C Davies today publishes his diary containing details of all his work related visits and activities over summer period when parliament does not sit.

Speaking from his constituency office in Usk David Said

“There is a view amongst some of the public and press that MP’s are on holiday for the whole of the eighty day parliamentary recess. I have had a few people contact me making this point”. This may be the case for some but certainly not for me.

“I did have two and a half weeks holiday with my family in Hungary at the home of my wife’s parents between the 23rd July and the 10th August. Since then I have been hard at work in my constituency office and making visits all over Monmouthshire.”

“Therefore I have published my summer diary on my website so any member of the public can see exactly what I have been doing when Parliament is in recess. I have also kept a rough total of my working hours which seem to average out about 46 per week. This includes all political activities and travel time to London, i.e. all the work of an MP”

“In view of recent events and my commitment to be open and transparent with constituents I have today posted all my summer diary details on my website. If anybody has any questions relating to these please contact me and I will be happy to respond. If there seems to be public interest I will do this on an annual basis”
