Anne Beynon, Chair of British Telecom in Wales is to attend a public meeting in Abergavenny organised by local MP David Davies.
David has been critical of the slow pace of improvements to the service and has asked BT to give an explanation of their plans for upgrading exchanges to the public and to take questions afterwards.
Speaking from his constituency office David said:
“In some areas of Monmouthshire broadband speeds are well below 1mbps making it difficult to carry out basic functions on the internet. It is becoming increasingly impossible to run a business without a broadband connection yet that is the situation faced by many especially famers. Even in towns things are not necessarily as good as one would expect”
“At the very least I would like BT to be more open about what their upgrade plans are so that people in areas which are not going to benefit can look at other options such as using satellites to get broadband."
The meeting will take place on Friday 10th October at 14:45 at the Our Lady of St Michael's Church Hall. All Monmouthshire residents are welcome, those interested should contact David’s office first to reserve a place on 01291 672817 or at david.davies.mp@parliament.uk
