Monmouth MP David Davies has teamed up with the Mayor of Abergavenny to support a national campaign challenging mental health service users and carers to radically improve their physical health.
Mr Davies and Cllr Martin Hickman attended an information day hosted by Hafal Monmouthshire at the Waitrose store in Llanfoist on Friday (4th July).
As well as showcasing the valuable work that goes on in the area for people with a mental illness and their carers, the event included activities to promote the 2014 Let’s Get Physical! campaign.
There was an opportunity to have health checks in a mobile surgery, speak to an exercise advisor and sample some healthy food
“Hafal are absolutely right to emphasise the fact that looking after your physical health is vital for improving mental health,” said Mr Davies.
“It is something which I take very seriously myself and I was delighted to be able to come along and support this groundbreaking campaign.
“I particularly enjoyed the cycle-powered food mixer which meant you had to burn some calories before being able to enjoy the wonderful smoothies it creates!”
