Monmouth MP David Davies has welcomed a multi-million pound investment to improve standards in drinking water quality for local residents.
Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water has spent more than £19m on upgrading the Court Farm water treatment works near Ponthir, which serves a population of 300,000 in and around the Chepstow area.
The upgrade has been carried out over the last four years and an extra £1m has been allocated for further improvements to ensure customers continue to receive a top quality supply of water direct to their taps.
Mr Davies recently paid a visit to Court Farm to view the treatment works in operation.
“It was interesting to see the complicated process behind providing the drinking water that we all take for granted as it comes out of our taps,” he said.
“I welcome that Dŵr Cymru has invested almost £20m in its water treatment works at Court Farm to deal with changes to customer demand and legislation, and to ensure the highest quality of drinking water for generations to come.”
