Local MP David Davies has paid a visit to Haberdashers’ Monmouth School for Girls to encourage pupils to think about going into politics.
Mr Davies spoke about the role of an MP and in particular the work that takes place in constituencies away from the apparent “glamour” of Westminster.
After taking questions on a variety of topics, especially tuition fees, Mr Davies said:
“It is always a pleasure to talk to young people about the realities of working as an MP which is very different from the image portrayed in the press. When I was in school the local MP Paul Flynn did the same, although my politics went in a very different direction!”
“During my time as MP for Monmouth I have given talks to many schools across Monmouthshire and I enjoy giving them, because I am constantly impressed by the variety of questions the pupils ask, as well as their enthusiasm.”
