As the vehicles accelerated into the small yard the Sergeant once again repeated the instruction "stay with someone the whole time." We braked to a halt and immediately somebody shouted "they're running."

Amnesty International was set up with the laudable aim of encouraging members of the public to write to despotic governments on behalf of imprisoned political activists and I have been happy to support the active local branch for a number of years.

Some Holiday Thoughts
Being an MP I am used to getting plenty of gentle, and not so gentle teasing about the "holidays" I get. In vain do I explain that the Parliamentary recess does not mean the MPs all go on holiday.

Workfare Not Welfare
It was the middle of a weekday afternoon in an urban shopping centre. Puffing away on ever present cigarettes and swigging from cans of strong lager, a group of youths in their late teens and early twenties lounge around watching the world go by.
